Dar Essid Museum (En)
By Zaher Kammoun
Dar Essid, once home to a Sousse official is a typical example of traditional middle class Sousse house.
Behind the entrance door, you will find a large hallway designed to preserve the privacy of the women living in the house. This hallway opens onto a courtyard with walls richly carpeted with tilling.
Three bedrooms open onto this courtyard: two ordinary ones opposite and on the left and a third majestic one preceded by an impressive doorway, on the right. Each bedroom is layed out like a small, more or less self contained apartment with sitting room and alcoves.
The whole house is richly furnished with the traditional manner.
